"Super Thursday" or damp squib?

"Markets are on alert ahead of the UK's new economic touchstone, a Super Thursday of economic data."

I can't see what all the excitement is about. It's August. Nothing ever (usually) happens in July/Aug except market interest gradually draining away.
I'm convinced Osborne trickled out his first 5% of RBS deliberately this week to set a low base. In other words, so that no-one who buys the shares ends up with a paper loss in the near future. I think he's hoping to see a rising share price and the chance of a better price for each slice he sells.
