Small business banking
Discussion
Wasn't sure if this should go in here or in the Business section so took a punt, hopefully it was the right one
I'm a contractor and own a limited company for the purposes of acting as a personal service company. As such I invoice the clients I do work for and they pay me into a company bank account. I want to change my company bank account and am looking for a recommendation for a good, cost-effective, basic business bank account.
The work I do is all consultancy so I never need investment etc. from the bank, just somewhere for money to go in and out of. Any suggestions welcome, thanks in advance.

I'm using Metro Bank too - small business banking is free as long as you keep £2000 in the account. The only problem I've found with them is that they struggle to accept payments from Sweden in SEK, for some reason. There was also a problem with using their card at petrol stations abroad, but they say they've resolved that. We'll see next time I go over to Europe!
I have a Co-op account as well, which is also free to members of the FSB. I get £25 a year as a loyalty bonus, which is nice considering that I only really use it to accept the SEK payments these days.

Metrobank service has gone downhill a lot recently.
Debt cards are lucky to work, which is an arse when you need to do transactions. They never work on National Rail for example.
They never respond to queries around service failures etc.
They started off ok though but seem to have run off the rails.
My 2p.
