Can't get through to the finance house to check but a HPI check of a motor I am looking at has come up with the following:

Recorded against
VRM
Description
JEEP
Date
09/08/2005
Finance house
BLACK HORSE LTD

Agreement type
Personal Loan

The lender has no claim on or interest in the vehicle but has registered the existence of a personal loan as part of the Governments Responsible Lending drive. If you are concerned because the vehicle you are looking at has this type of finance, you should seek clarification from seller of the vehicle.

Its the last statement that confuses me, does the lender own the vehicle or the seller?

Sounds like the owner took a personal loan to buy the car and gave the reg details to the loan company who have given it to the HPI companies?

If so, the seller owns the car as a personal loan is unsecured.

It also says the VIN has finance against it, seems odd, will call them tomorrow, however the seller (ebay auction win) is refusing to give an address for the Jeep to collect until I pay for it. Think I may just walk away from it, sounds a bit too suspect
