Absolutely no point in paying your NI contributions if you have any choice in the matter.

Regardless of what the linked to site says, my bet is that when I hit 65 in 30(ish) years time, there is either no state pension or it's means tested and on current form I wouldn't be entitled to anything.

Same amount here but a fair few years earlier!!

I'm actually quite happy with that as it's more than I thought!

The earliest you can get your State Pension is 2035 when you'll be 67, your estimate is

£159.32 a week.

I've already paid 31 full years of NI, how many do I need to pay to get the full pension as the site seems to indicate I need to continue paying to get it up from £157 it's currently "guaranteeing" to the £159 it's forecasting?

Yep, it's the 'single tier' minimum (subject to sufficient NI history) from April 2016. It should increase each year by at least inflation (but Governments have been known to move the goalposts).

Good job I have a final salary pension.

I am an old git and its way too late for me but best advice I can give you young uns is to do all you can as regards a private pension because state pensions are worth beggar all less 10% in terms of buying a good quality of life.

Not a pensions expert but I think that the state pension applies whatever private or company pensions you have.

All subject to income tax of course

You need £1576 a week to buy a good quality of life?
With no mortgage & a Nissan Micra etc I could get by on far less than that!
