Hi guys,
I have a stocks and shares isa but notice that it's lost £800 (out of a total of £16k invested). I don't see any real reason as there is no panic at the moment with brexit etc.
Should I consider taking my money out?
Thanks
Over what period are you measuring performance?I have a stocks and shares isa but notice that it's lost £800 (out of a total of £16k invested). I don't see any real reason as there is no panic at the moment with brexit etc.

Thanks
What assets are you invested in?
Why would you take your money out - what would you invest in and why?

Buy high sell low - no wait a minute that's not right!
US markets have come off a bit in the last week due to Trump's resurgence, high court Brexit decision has increased the value of £ vs $ and so FTSE 100 is down. My ISA is off as well but I'm not thinking of making any trades.
What are you invested in and why?
For me the point of an ISA is to develop long-term growth. In this way I look at companies that I believe in which provide a good dividend. Alternatively you can pick a fund which tries to do the same thing.
Once you are thinking long term then a few ups and downs don't really matter. I used to get hung up on whether or not it was going up and down on a daily basis but after a while you learn not to worry about and just think of the long-term plan.
Mine is down £800 since last Wednesday. The only way I look at it is that it might be a buying opportunity unless something fundamental has changed with the companies you are investing in.

Just out of interest, if you're focussed on long-term growth, why are current dividends such a big influence in your strategy? For me the point of an ISA is to develop long-term growth. Quite. There's no point investing in the stock market and then fretting about short term fluctuations (daily/monthly/yearly). It's normally best to have in mind a timescale of at least 5 or 10 years. What assets are you invested in?
