Electric bill help !
Discussion
Being a bit thick, can't get my head around electric costs.
Just had last 6 months actual usage bill, 1400 kWh and bill is £241 including daily tariff and VAT.
Not unhappy as usage doubled this 6 months due to a summerhouse office build.
However, if I have a 200W dehumidifier running for 6 hours in a day, or a 1kW fanheater for 4 hours....what do they cost me per day ??
Not sure why I can't see the logic....New Year, older head.
Thanks :-)

Multiply the load of your appliance in kW by the number of hours it's running by the unit price of your electricity
Eg a 1kW heater for 4 hours @ 15p per unit
1 x 4 x 15 = 60p a day (or 4kWh per day)
200W = .2kW
.2 x 6 x 15p = 18p
I trust 15p is just an example - as you should be paying less than that.Eg a 1kW heater for 4 hours @ 15p per unit
1 x 4 x 15 = 60p a day (or 4kWh per day)
200W = .2kW
.2 x 6 x 15p = 18p

I think mine is 10.99p + vat + standing charge

Try OVO Energy.........
Indeed - i'm with them. Just got my bill actually, with the 5% vat i'm paying:Electric £0.1081 per kWh + £0.28 standing charge per day
Gas £0.023 per kWh + £0.28 standing charge per day
I also use one of these check what newly built PC's or appliances are running:

Throws up one or two surprises actually. I also found that my Induction hob uses 80 watts when not in use!

It's probably not that bad - have a look here: http://greengumption.co.uk/2013/03/induction-hobs-...http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Power-consumption-Meter-...

Old stuff can be pretty bad - my Dad had a "hifi" unit that was rated at 75w on standby. Never actually measured it, but it was always warm to touch.
