HSBC upgraded my account and have sent a new debit card. Only they seem to have sent two new debit cards.

Everything is the same except the card number and security number on the back. Even the letters that they were attached to have the same date. I guess someone double clicked and two got ordered?

Can I actually activate both? My old card will deactivate when I activate a new one so presumably if I tried to activate both, the first one would be overridden by the second?

Shall I just shred one?

I'd activate one and assuming it works OK safely dispose of the other.

Although if you can be bothered it may be worth contacting them and explaining what has happened so they don't send another one out.

Because if you ask on here you'll get a choice of 47 different answers only one of which may be correct.

...although my experience with HSBC suggests you'll get about the same chance of the right answer if you ring them...

Absolutely. That and they take an absolute age. Waiting on the phone for 30 minutes and then they take you round the houses to solve a simple problem... No thanks. Here is better.

Just gonna bin one and keep one
