NCB for personal car
Discussion
I have a company car which I earn a NCB with (2 years earned).when I started with the company they never asked about my NCB. I want to buy myself a car privately and have it as a bit of a project. I have proof of 7 years claims which I got with privately owned cars. When I'm doing insurance quotes should I put down 7NCB or 9NCB ? Might sound like a daft question but I want to insure the car properly.
I'd say you have 7 still you can use (might be worth an ask to take into account the other 2 but it won't make much difference) as it was valid in Oct 17, but there is a two year rule where they will write off any no claims, you should be fine (with that old insurer at least) just don't let them fob you off.
A quick update. I phoned an insurer to ask them and they informed me that they are still valid because I cancelled the insurance in October 2015. They told me that they need to be applied to a policy which they were so I now have 3 months to get myself a car to put them on or I lose them.
