Hello,

I've recently purchased £450 worth of shares in a company on the FTSE250. I purchased them using X-O and they seem to be in my "portfolio" on there.

What I'm wondering is whether this is the most efficient place to be keeping them? Should I/Can I transfer them to a stocks and shares ISA?

Very new to this so any guidance would be appreciated.

Thanks

essayer

AFAIK you can’t transfer stocks and shares into an ISA directly, you have to sell and rebuy
I was reading about ‘bed and ISA’ which seems to be the generic name for the process, where the provider does it for you, obviously for a small fee but probably worth it so you don’t need to faff with tax returns etc

Thanks,

Am I right in saying then that within a normal, high street S+S ISA I could choose to buy individual shares in any listed company?

As I hope (who doesn't!) that the value of my existing shares will go up, I guess it's better to do this asap?

Yes, although high st ISAs tend to have painfully high fees. Have a look at http://monevator.com/compare-uk-cheapest-online-br... for some options with lower fees if you don't want an ISA with X-O.

Yes, although with a £450 investment, you'd have to do insanely well to exceed your dividend and CGT allowances.
