I am going to retire in March 2018. The intention is to live off savings for 18 months before drawing my pension. Do I need to actually do anything?

I know it will take a couple of months for things like expenses and fuel recharge to get sorted,

Do you not need to "sign on" to keep continuity of your state pension?

Guess he might have already achieved maximum NI contributions ?. If not, I think he can still make a lump sum voluntary contribution to achieve the maximum.

The taxman will ask you to complete self assessment forms so be prepared for that. otherwise just sit back and enjoy it.
