Interested in whether anyone has any experience of using London & Country for remortgaging - I know they are a big name in mortgage broking but just looking for experiences of what they are like to deal with....

Thanks, have spoken to them today to get the ball rolling, they seem quite knowledgeable without any sales-y patter. Useful feedback coffee

Used them, seemed fine... recommended the same product I had found by own research so I was happy neither of us missed anything better!

Took out a mortgage through them once and, as above, it was all very smooth. I dealt with the same chap throughout which was a definite plus point.

Last couple of times around I've done better than they could offer me through shopping around, to their credit though L&C didn't try any hard sell tactics.

I'd definitely give them a try, in fact I'll be doing just that as my fixed rate ends in April.

That’s the sign of a good mortgage broker if you can find a better deal than them they don’t try any hard sell or charge you. Mine does the same if you can find better than me fine no charge I did it once in the last 4.

Same good feedback here

First time I used them they got the same fixed rate deal as I found on the High Street but with no fee. Saved a few hundred.

Second time they contacted me a couple of months in advance and made some suggestions in plenty of time to go straight from one fix to another

I have used them for a buy to let I have a couple of times, I was suspicious at first that they could offer anything over a standard google search, however they were quick, easy, doesnt cost you anything (fees taken from the other side) and essentially just hassle free.

Once of the benefits is they do a lot of admin etc for you and keep a file for you, so minimal effort for me when it comes to renewing my btl.

It is genuinely one person from start to finish, and they do actually answer the phone.

Would recommend them.

My only small gripe was my adviser was particularly difficult to get hold of. Sometimes needing multiple phone calls to get through. Can't fault them other than that, very knowledgeable.

Another vote for them here, our adviser managed to sort us a good deal in very difficult circumstances. I can give you his direct dial if you would like as he was very thorough, no hard sell crap and always easy to get hold of. All done extremely quickly too, we viewed the property at the beginning of Jan and are due to complete in 10 days.

There are face to face advisors which don’t charge and take care of all the paperwork(certified documents etc) it’s much easier looking at the same screen as the advisor, I didn’t pick the cheapest and had plenty of time to discuss the options over a nice coffee.

Obvious reply here but I'd recommend Sarnie on here. He's helped me and family in the past. Yes, there's a charge but he sorted everything out and I was happy to pay. He really is a gem and worth using his services.

I think the only answer to pretty much every mortgage question on here is Sarnie, isn't it? hehe

It is the correct answer....

I suppose if you have special needs/requirements with your mortgage then perhaps you are happy to pay?

Can't see what paying someone could have done for me though ('normal' routine residential mortgage with PAYE tax payers with jobs etc)

I did mine though L+C. Rate was the same as I found searching online but they did the running around and no need to go into a branch with all my paperwork. Didn't cost my a penny.
