Bit of an odd one here...

If I insure my personal car on our fleet policy, the price is negligible, £10 per year sort of price. I assume I would have to declare a BIK to HMRC, is the BIK based on the actual extra cost, or what I would pay to insure the car normally?

Probably a "trivial benefit"? https://www.gov.uk/expenses-and-benefits-trivial-b...

You're sure that really works, though? I'd read the small print of your fleet insurance policy just in case...

Yeah, broker is fine with it, as far as he could see it is no different to another company car, how that car is funded and taxed (income etc) is not his concern! He just said double check any HMRC implications.

10 quid per vehicle on Fleet insurance?

Where do I access such magic?

We have 14 HGV, 10 LCVs and about 20 cars currently on the policy our broker did not think adding one car would increase the premium much. I don’t have a formal quote, only a chat, but adding a new 18T truck last year did not add to the premium, that I recall.

Normally there would be a rate for each type of vehicle and adjusted quarterly or annualy.
Would love to know which insurer wasn't charging for mid term additions if you can share.

It’s Allianz.

We do the insurance annually, what you say makes sense as the 18T replaced a 12T that died.

We sometimes rent HGVs for specific tasks (HIAB or flat bed etc) and don’t pay anything to add them, just have to notify reg details.

Are you the owner/Director of the business? Most fleet policies will only cover vehicles that belong to the company or the owner/Director

Just to clarify, there was some confusion between myself and the broker... He thought I meant replacing my old company car "on risk" with a car owned by me as opposed to the company. Not add an additional car to the "risk."
Adding another car is not a huge amount, but it does not seem worth the potential agro as More Than were dirt cheap in any case... £303 for an M140
