I checked my online banking last week to find an unidentied credit of £2174.71 from HSBC on 21 February. I called my bank, Lloyds and was told they don’t know where it came from but best not to spend it as someone will probably want it back.

I transferred the money into a separate account but so far nobody seems to have missed it. Very odd.

Have you applied for any PPI refunds?

Have you ever had a loan from them? I once got a refund of something to do with interest charges, never applied for it or anything, but received a letter a few days later.

That's a CHAPS payment, possible that someone has given HSBC the incorrect account details and it's credited into your account by mistake. If/when the payer realises they'll speak to HSBC who in turn will get in touch with Lloyds who will eventually ask you to allow for the transaction to be reversed.

That sounds right. Just as well I put the £’s aside in a different account. I wouldn’t want it to get mixed up with my beer money. drink

Thanks.
