Closing in July. Any unspent points will be transferred over to the BA Executive Club.

I think I have about 60k Avios miles remaining. Spend now or see what BA brings? What are others planning to do?

What a ball ache. Can you use BA exec points for lounge access?

Does anyone know how this effects Avios rewards through Lloyds Premier Credit Cards

No, not directly. But you can redeem points for a business class (or First) ticket, which will get you lounge access, so sort of yes.

I have a reasonable stash of these but as I have only ever used them with BA flights I assume there will be no difference in future as far as my use is concerned.

How does one get the best redemption value for these? I know the option to redeem comes up when booking BA flights l, but they offer you a worthless exchange rate in my opinion.

I just used most of my Avios points which were earned from Lloyds Bank credit cards to book 2 x business class flights to Chicago.

Will transfer the rest to BA. I haven’t heard from Lloyds yet re what will happen with future points. Presumably they will go to my BA Executive club?

Assuming each Avios has cost of a penny to accumulate, I think a redemption value of more than this would represent decent value. Trouble is, it’s quite hard to find this value.

I've booked 4 business class tickets to Florida this summer using Avios on BA. The cost of the fees and charges was £2000 (£500 x 4) in addition to the points. I think the money saved on the airfare would probably equate to a bit more than 1p per point.

Went into speak with the Lloyds Premier team at my branch the other day. Next to useless, didn't even know Avios was closing etc.

I reckon to accumulate Avios at around 1 1/2 points per 1p spend. If my wife and I then use Avios plus BA companion voucher to go to, say, Italy business class it costs 30,000 Avios plus taxes. Looking at BA business fares to, say, Naples, the two tickets will be around £850 plus the same taxes. I see that as good value as it has not cost me anything I would have otherwise have spent to collect the Avios.

Hopefully Lloyds will clarify what they’re doing when they send the next statement in early May.

I agree. Club Europe using Avios is excellent value for money imho. £50 return + points.

I've rented a chalet in a ski resort near Geneva for next winter season and have booked lots of flights to go back and forth using Avios for my family. Provided you book it a long way in advance it is unbelievably good value for money.

One indication is the liability that each point represents on the scheme operator’s balance sheet. A high percentage will never be redeemed, but from my days working with an airline I’d imagine a few hundredths of 1p per point

Thinking this will be a great chance to pull all my Avios together seeing as I’ve somehow ended up with an Avios account, a BA Exec Avios account and a Tesco Clubcard Avios account.

Hopefully the swap to BA Exec umbrella doesn’t stop them being used on other carriers, such as Flybe. Just booked flights for Goodwood using Avios for less than the fuel cost of driving.
