2 years away from retiring, could an IFA help?
Discussion
As above, retiring early at 55, emergency service pension, and a couple of rental properties that should bring in an income.
Would like to sit down with a financial expert to make sure my sums are correct and maybe gain other perspectives/ideas on my options.
Only trouble is not sure there is much money for an IFA to make out of me other than maybe a remortgage, or is just the chance of a remortgage enough to motivate them for a meeting?

You might be better to find one that charges and hourly fee for their time. What exactly are you seeking advice about, or are you simply seeking a second opinion as to whether your numbers stack up?
Yes would like to gain a second opinion, particularly with regard to refinancing/selling of the properties and also if there any issues/ideas I hadn't thought of, the pension I hope will be constant!Mark300zx said:

If your pension is sorted then an accountant may well be a better option to provide a second opinion on your numbers. With regard to refinancing the properties Sarnie is your man here. Highly recommended by many (myself included).JulianPH said:

There is a pre-retirement course available, but the waiting list is long, my union doesn't have anyone that I am aware of!
In my experience pre-retirement courses are mainly about filling your time post-retirement but l would be very surprised if your union don't have an arrangement with someone - it's certainly worth asking the question. Gassing Station | Finance | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
