I was employed for a short time by a company new Reading. I didn't like the job, so within a few months, I left.
I was part of the pension scheme and when I left I was assured that this would be frozen as a final salary scheme.

Roll forward 6 years and I receive a letter from the pension provider informing me that the amount (circa £1800) is too small to invest in the pension and that I must use CETV to transfer this to an alternative pension fund.

My current employer, who I have been working for around 18 months has a pension scheme which I joined on my starting date. I have approached them to arrange a CETV and they inform me that this is only open for the first 11 months of the pension, hence cannot help.

Any ideas what to do with this small sum of money? Its small, but it is still mine and will grow over the next 30 years.
The pensions advisory service (PAS) mentioned a deferred pension, but the pension provider told me that the PAS didnt know what they were talking about!

The type of contributions I made are also such that I cannot ask for a cash payout. Its annoying as it has taken them 6 years to tell me this.

Any help much appreciated.

You have a deferred Final Salary pension.

If worth less than £30k then you can transfer this into a Personal Pension or a Sipp.

It's a straightforward process.
