That's not how insurance works. Use the usual suspects comparison sites to get quotes. Check the reviews of the cheapest quotes until you find someone you're happy with. Purchase insurance.

Just gone with Aviva - 5 bed detached with triple garage etc , MissusZippy got a extra dicount because she already has her Golf insured with them, another discount as she had a voucher code and a contributon to my daughters fundraising account. Seems like a good level of cover although we dont insure stuff like our watches as I have always felt that kind of cover was very expensive.

You can check the ratings of the various insurance products on defaqto - https://www.defaqto.com

We went with LV. Made a home emergency claim (burst) for which they were excellent - haven’t made a proper claim but they were fine about adding high risk, high value items such as paintings and watches etc.

I can’t be bothered with the myriad of compare sites so use a broker who always turns out cheaper as I do sometimes check. I couldn’t even tell you when they are due for renewal he just calls or emails me.

Nice one, never seen this before, just checked and my insurer/product is ranked 4star so happy enough with that

I'm with Churchill. I had to make a claim after a burglary, and they were great, so I stuck with them.

I went with AXA, Homesafe.
Not much fuss. Unlimited cover on House, 100k contents.
Premium just over £500, saving me £900!

co-op are so good, they are a bit more expensive but no messing around when you need to claim.

£1k pushbike stolen in town while locked up. They bank transferred me the £1k the next day (which was a saturday), did not even ask for a receipt. 100 percent recommend.

I have a similar blanket cover at 500 odd with RSA. Who on earth was quoting you £1400 ?

Insurance is really about what happens when you make a claim rather than the price. I had the misfortune to have a serious flood followed shortly after by a fire! Aviva (at the time) sub contracted their services. The buildings element of the claim was superbly handled, the contents element can only be described as disgusting. I've been round the block a few times and have dealt with insurance claims as part of my job. Were it not for that experience I would have been right royally turned over. To be fair it was some while ago, so maybe things are different now.
