self assessment overpayment for previous years
Discussion
Hi all,
I've been on self assessment tax returns for the last 5-10 years, I think because I was self employed about 15 yrs ago, these have been simple to fill out as I'm not a director, I've worked in the same company for the last 10yrs and there is little to nothing additional that has needed to be filled out.
Or so I thought.....I forgot about my late fathers annuities that have been transferred to me (and my Sister) and for the last 4-5 yrs I've been receiving them net (after tax). For the 17/18 tax return that needs to be in by Jan I've wised up and claimed this tax back and have since received my 1/2 of the tax back in a lump sum.
But this got me thinking about the tax yrs 16/17 15/16 and further back.
Is there a way I can prepare a separate over payment claim and submit these ? is there a specific form or forms and or deadline ?
I'd like to do this myself, but if I have to pay someone I will.
TIA
