I was in South Wales the other day, and awoke to find that just one mile away, Banksy had been hard at work. Even more bizarrely, it seems that a lad in my year at school owns the garage where the work was done. The latest offer is £1.25m.

But, I got thinking about HMRC looking on it as a wasting chattel. I’d just love to see the face of the HMRC assessor if the garage had been held in a SIPP and Ian now chose to dismantle it and sell the specific wall section on which the art sits.

Incidentally, I was one of the first to amble over and see it. Surrounded by just a few bemused locals, I can see how these works can have a profound effect. In its surroundings, it resonated.
