What is the correct NI payment for a one-off ex-employer payment of 30,023 (England). (Retained bonus being paid out in annual stages)

Online net pay calculator shows 2,591.

Employer has calculated and deducted 670.

My rough and ready calculation is 900. (I treated the payment as a single months income and used monthly threshold bands)

Second question.

I got a letter from HMRC saying I don't need to complete a tax return this year due to drop in salary last year. Can I just submit one anyway without pre-notifying them or do I need to let them know first.

Thanks in advance.

Look to me like they have processed it as a weekly payment.

You're absolutely right - that adds up exactly. Hopefully that is the correct way to handle it.

Thanks
