So, I’ve been left some BP PLC shares from a relative. Not a huge amount but I’ve decided to cash them out.

I have a ordinary shares certificate in my name and I’ve created an online account with BP.

Where’s the easiest and most cost effective way of selling my shares and what’s involved in the process?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Quite often the registrar will offer a low cost share dealing service for shareholders with small holdings, check with registrar which I think is Capita.

I use X-O.

Flat fee of about £5 or £6 regardless of the value or number of shares you sell.
