Hi, not sure if anyone else has noticed they have not had any emails from HMRC since about April last year, apparently even if you logged into and confirmed email for GDPR reasons, they have a "national Issue" that is meaning many of us got no SA reminders this year.
Cynic in me says they will happily have no national issue issuing the £100 fines for those that miss tomorrows SA deadline!
So if you have to do an SA return, and have not yet, you have about 34 hours! !

There is no legal requirement on HMRC to remind taxpayers about their Self Assessment obligations.

Thankfully many other organisations provide a service beyond the minimum legal requirement.

I completed my SA in December and since then I have received two standard e mails from HMRC reminding me of the SA deadlines and the need to file by then.

Given SA has been around for about 20 years, who doesn't remember when it's due?

Yes, I've been getting the texts. And I've been getting emails too. Got one on the 22nd, the 10th, the 8th, and probably some more in between that I've deleted.

I leave mine late (for reasons that I now know are incorrect) and even I did mine last week. I wouldn't want to leave it too close in case my scabby internet connection decides to give up when I'm on a deadline.

As does HMRC - but they have no obligation to do so.

UK tax law states that it is the taxpayer's responsibility to be aware of their obligations. If you are not happy with that, you need to canvas your MP.
