Currently not married. If I purchase a house in my name then buy another in Mrs G's name (all funds will come from me, cash purchase) will this be acceptable to avoid the additional SDLT for second homes?

If I then later marry Mrs G, am I still safe from the additional SDLT on this completed purchase?

For clarity, we're not aiming on an immediate wedding but probably in the next year or two.

Thanks
Gary

You might run into AML questions from Solicitors / banks if they start asking for the source of your girlfriend's cash.

yes (if she doesn't own a non-exempt one already)

Assume I could gift it? I'll obviously get legal advice before committing.

We've been together 14 years - I think it's a safe move wink
