Hi All

I got excited and read my mortgage statement wrong and thought I could begin looking at remortgaging onto another fixed rate (3-5 yr) before Brexit happens (if it happens). But then re-read and, nope, still got the £6k penalty for leaving early. The fixed term is up in September.

So, question is, do I stick or twist?

stick and face ??? interest rates in sept. Twist, take a 6k hit (which actually undoes a decent portion of the capital payments made to date, only been in the house a few years) and move.

The mitigating factor might be that we are with Santander and actually, the mortgage I'd like to move to is with them also. So its worth giving them a call to ask the question of transferring without penalty?

Stick.....the world isn't going to end at the end of March...…..Santander will let you transfer to a new rate penalty free 4 months out from your expiry date......

You should be more concerned about what will happen to rates if McDonnell becomes chancellor

Well... probably won't be a concern because we'll have left if that happens.

Rates are more likely to go down post brexit and they definitely will if there’s no deal
