IANAL but I'm sure the protection only kicks in if it's over £100 put on the card. However, remember this is part of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. If you're a business buying a van then the protection is a little unclear as it seems to be if you as a business are classed as an individual e.g. a sole trader and not a limited company.
