Buyer of a car I was selling has transferred me half the money.
We both bank with the same bank, money has left his account, it shows on mine but isn’t available yet.

Transfer was at 5.30 this afternoon. We’ve both called the bank and although they say there’s no issue with the transaction, they can’t give a timeframe for when the funds will clear.

Anyone else had this?

Depends on the sum, bank etc. I would say sending after 3pm is not helpful either.

I hope you weren't sitting with him for 5 hours until it was 'available' in your bank account?!

Haha no.

After much stress last night and some calls to the bank this morning from both sides - it has been released.

Additional fraud checks apparently. They wouldn’t give any other info other than it can take up to 4 days.

Haha I had visions of you making a bed for him.

In similar circumstances I've had to wait nearly 3 hours in someone's house before waiting for a payment to clear. It was quite difficult because we had absolutely nothing in common at all!

NatWest are particularly bad at this.

I made two payments for a new car. One went through the second was blocked for potential fraud.

I have no issue with that, my problem is they don't tell you, or contact you, or make it clear it's held in any way.

Then you have to call and get transferred to fraud dept.

Why not ping you to get it confirmed. It can't be that hard, they do it when you set up a new payee
