Transferring AVC pension to SIPP

I've been making small contributions to an AVC pension for many years. The current value is about £40k. This is not a vital part of my retirement plans.

In general, am I able to transfer this value to an existing SIPP I have? In general, are there charges for doing this?
I will obviously contact the provider for more info, but doing that usually involves a long on hold phone call.

You'll need to contact both the AVC & SIPP providers for details as there may be a charge applied by both the transferring & receiving schemes.

I did the same last year, as it was under £40k in value no need for IFA advice. I just emailed the AVC vendor for transfer quote and received it in a couple of weeks. Went online in my SIPP account and initiated the transfer by putting in details of AVC vendor. 3 weeks later it was complete and the money was in my SIPP, simple as that, never had to speak to anyone.
