I don’t work and so don’t pay any tax. This has been the situation for 15 years or so now. Happy days smile
I recently had a PIP refund and around £200 was deducted at source and paid direct to HMRC as 20% tax on the interest.
I’m in no rush for tube money but do I need to claim it back or will i get a cheque in the post at the end of the tax year?

I'm pretty sure you'll need to claim it.

I guess it'll be dealt under these procedures

https://www.gov.uk/apply-tax-free-interest-on-savi...

This bit at the bottom;

If you already paid tax on your savings income
You can reclaim tax paid on your savings interest if it was below your allowance. You must reclaim your tax within 4 years of the end of the relevant tax year.

Fill in form R40 and send it to HMRC. It normally takes 6 weeks to get the tax back.

Thanks, that was what I thought.
