Cloud accounting services - local backup?

A question for those who use cloud services like Xero: do you have a local backup of the data? The question is triggered by an issue one provider is having where they have been hit by a ransomware attack & clients can't access their encrypted data files:

So how would those using one of these cloud services cope if the provider was hit: can you take a local backup?

Good point. We use QuickBooks and Zoho for clients and, from what I can see, there is no local backup option if using the cloud solution. I suppose the next best option is to download the data by transaction. Not great, but better than nothing.

Looking at the link I guess it was only QB USA affected as we had no problems here in the UK, yet.
