Best Savings Account?
Discussion
Have around £1000 p/m to put away but was wondering which savings accounts would be best to put it away in?
Pension is topped up to the max, have no mortgage and have an S&S account which I pay into monthly also.
I know at present interest rates aren't great but any recommendations? Ideally, want to have easy access to the funds.

how easy is easy for you? if you can live with 90 days close bros and investec offer best rates unless you want to save with a sharia bank.
the 90 days notice period can be breached, but you will get even crapper rate of interest and default on the higher rate i think. i had to do this a few years ago on a old investec high 5 account and an allied irish notice account when a property opportunity that couldn't be missed came up but the rates were so crap at that point it didn't really matter.
id consider investing in something else tbh. im in similar quandary although with a lump sum i dont know what to do with.

Applied & been rejected through the initial appeal. No idea why
Mine did that. I rang up, a very helpful guy put me on hold for two minutes and came back and said "apologies, it's all gone through now." No idea why!SSG1000 said:

May I ask what you said to them please? I received the letter but have followed up on it
However from memory I'm sure my rejection was immediate on the screen, not by letter. The guy pushed a few behind the scenes buttons and my email came through to say "thanks for opening an account" so it obviously wasn't too serious as he didn't ask me anything else.

TSB are paying 3% on their current account. Seems better than may saving accounts. Not sure if there is a catch .. like main salary must be paid in etc..
TSB only pay 3% on balances up to £1,500. No good for saving £1K/month.rev-erend said:
Sounded too good to be true.. knew there would be a catch.
Doesnt mean to say it isn't worth opening one though.Open two TSB accounts, fill them up, set up a standing order to transfer £500 from one to the other each month to meet the funding then log in and skim off the interest.

Seems a lot of hassle for £7.50 a month, infact compared to sticking it in a Marcus you would be £3.75 up a month.
Why would you be up £3.75 a month by putting it in a Marcus account instead?3.0% on £3000 = £7.50 a month
1.5% on £3000 = £3.75 a month
