I have a coiuple of clients in Ireland.

Usually they pay me and I simply add it to my Self Assessment and pay the tax on it in the UK at 20%..

However there have been some changes in Ireland and now they want to me me minus tax at , wait for it, 40%.

I think they should tax at the standard rate.

Anyone else come across this?

What is the standard rate in Ireland? I presume the 40% tax they are deducting at source is Republic of Ireland tax.

13,000 euros no tax, then another 20,000 at 20%, then 40%. It varies too based on matital status etc.

I thought PAYE was taken at source not by you via your self assessment?

If it is to be taxed at source I would of thought it would then be paid at the rate of the country the money is earnt. But I'm not an accountant.

Many people who primarilly pay their tax through PAYE still need to complete Self Assessment tax returns.
