Best Short Term Investments

Hi guys.

Just wanted to get an idea of what the best short term investments are with the least risk; however, I do understand almost/all investments will have some degree of risk involved.

I have savings of around 50k and I am looking to invest around 20-25 for a period of 12 months. What investments will get me the best returns?

£50K goes in, does there have to be a minimum of £50K there in 12 months time?

Premium bonds are safe and could give a great return, or maybe no return at all.

They are quite exciting though and we won something every month on 30k worth.
