Converting Euro's to Pounds - Cash

My girlfriends mum has given us some cash (significant sums) to help with some work we are doing on the house.
First world problem - but she's given / giving it to us in cash. Does anyone know where / how is the best way to exchange this into sterling?

Also - will any questions be asked converting such a sum? I know depositing large amounts of sterling a bank is duty bound to ask questions (for money laundering) but not sure how things work with converting currency in cash form?

It is possibly too late but the cheapest way would be to have her pay the cash into an account with a bank where she lives, open an account with revolut, exchange to GBP via the app and send the sterling to you. If you need to convert the cash you have, ace FX at london bridge or canary wharf are about the best for physical cash. The difference between their rate and spot is usually less than 1%.

In my experience Eurochange tend to offer the best EUR buyback rates. If it is more than a few grand you will have to fill out anti-money laundering forms explaining from where you received the cash, provide a copy of passport etc. I get a fair few EUR in cash from work and this works for me. Way better than my bank or any of the main holiday exchanges. You are always going to lose out a few percent but with cash they seem the best option. I'm not affiliated with them in any way.
