Scottish Widows forcing us to go through a Broker
Discussion
I have been a customer of Scottish Widows for about 20 years. Never missed a mortgage payment. Have about £20k left on the mortgage, but wanting to build an extension so have approached them about borrowing an additional £60k on the existing mortgage. There is about £500k of equity in the property. So all in all, a pretty low risk deal for them.
I phoned them up, expecting it to be quite a simple process (wife and I fully employed, no debts other than the small mortgage), and it is far from simple.....They wouldn't even discuss it with me in detail, saying I need to apply via a broker. For which no doubt I will need to pay.
Anyone got any experience of this or can recommend a broker who can assist, and make it as painless as possible?
Thanks
