Non-cumulative tax code

Probably been asked before but a quick forum search has not helped me...and google explanations are also leaving me uncertain.

I don't really feel like calling HMRC right now (I see you can actually tweet them which is an interesting option) so maybe PH can help -

I changed jobs 2 months ago - My previous tax code was - 1260L CUMUL. Now my tax code (on my last two payslips) is 1250L NONCUMUL.

Do I need to call them to get this fixed? Am I overpaying or under? I completed an HMRC starter checklist prior to moving jobs - one of my googles suggest that ticking box 'B' on here produces a NONCUMUL tax code, but surely that was the correct box to tick ('This is now my only job but since last 6 April I have had another job...')

Any advice appreciated...

In reality there's likely to be little difference in your take home pay as the two codes have a similar effect for most people but the code with your new employer should have been updated by now (RTI means that old employer and new should have submitted your details to HMRC at the latest by the end of month one) and HMRC should have asked new employer to update your code and YTD earnings.

Personally, I'd leave it until next pay day and ring HMRC at that point if your still on the non-cumulative code.

Thanks for that Beetnik, sounds like a good plan (anything to avoid/delay me wasting time on the phone to HMRC sounds good).
