Hi Everyone, I may have done something silly here.

I payed off a credit card that then cancelled my DD as the balance was 0. Just sorting through my finances today and the account is still showing as minimum payment due tomorrow. (this is under the section 'Balance from last statement'

See Here:

But the section above says....

The question is, will they try to take the money tomorrow still leaving me with a non-payment mark? I can't find any way to contact Tesco Bank about this, their website only has FAQs.

Thank you

Yes, you shouldn't have cancelled your direct debit..........the payment due is based on the statement that was issued a month ago.....they don't usually take into account payments made to the account after the last statement was produced.

st. I'm going to try and sort it out. There isn't an option on their interface to stop payments or close the account, I just assumed that they would know that the balance was £0.00 and then I wouldn't pay the due payment that was there before I paid it off.

Are you sure about that last bit, I have had many direct debits different to that on the statement, all be it mine is paid off in full by DD every month?

I’m confused here. Surely you paid the statement balance before the due date. Why would it matter that you cancelled the DD?

In fact I’m sure that statement summary never updates, my wife has a Tesco CC that we pay the statement balance with a debit card, no direct debit set up and the statement summary never updates.

The only time a payment doesn’t count is refunds.

That only works if you always pay the balance if full. Once you start paying interest it accrues on daily basis, hence if you pay the balance shown there will still be interest which has accrued between the date of the statement and the date you made the payment.

But he’s still met the minimum payment in time? (Assuming the statement balance was larger than the minimum) so there’d be no missed payment?

I think the statement summary showing a minimum payment due is clouding the picture. It’s just a snapshot of when the statement was created, it never updates even after payment is made.

Did you have to make an extra payment or anything. Not trying to be awkward just want it straight in my head!

My CC shows the minimum payment due up until the due date regardless of whether you've made a payment. It just updates on statement date

Shouldnt have cancelled the DD as you may want to ask if it will impact your credit file now as technically if it bounces it maybe a missed payment. (No bank error sorry to say)

If it has do a notice of correction on your credit file to explain whats happened.

Regards the account never cancel a DD let it go its a small amount and they will refund it to you

Hi all, sorry I don't get on PH much at the weekend.
I paied off the whole balance but the statement never updates. The lady pn the ohone said that it was fine to cancel the dd as they wont be taking any more payments.
I was in an interest free period so no interest was accrued. I won't cancel any more dds in future, too dangerous.
