We often see films like the Big Short where "bad people" make a lot of money out of bad events - war, crashes, etc.

Per the title really, how does one make money from war?

BlackRock Gold & General fund is a very average performer at the moment, any other ideas?

Pretty much. Alternatively, maybe go for something like BAE Systems, - the share price increase today was five times higher than the overall index it sits in (FTSE100). No doubt the Iran news played its part in this.

Someone should start an 'Unethical Fund', it would make shedloads.

Done : https://www.bloomberg.com/quote/GS:US

The problem with unethical funds is that obviously all the profits get unethically diverted away from the external investors. biggrin

As to how to profit from events such as today? You typically need to be one of the people who knows in advance which direction to be pointing before it happens.

FSTE100 is overrated as a barometer for anything. It’s so all over the place!
