two incomes - tax codes

The wife has two incomes, with big disparity between income levels. The larger amount which varies a lot, sits within the higher rate bracket, is only classified as BR, meaning that the tax code on her first income is ridiculous.

It would make a lot of sense, and make it easier to understand, to have the two switched around. Any ideas how? I've spent a lot of time within the online tax account but it isn't particularly designed to cater to these types of queries.

Phone HMRC and get them to swap the two around. Not January any more so you might spend less than half the day on hold.
