Excel & Stock Prices (US and UK)

Anyone recommend a good way to get stock prices both US and UK into excel. I'm happy with 15 minute delayed prices.

Currently using Stock Connector which works fine for US stocks but only fetches once a day 9pm for UK stocks.

I'm using Excel 2016 (Mac) - so don't have the Stock option on the Data ribbon

I got a file years ago via a user on the Motley Fool forum (later Lemon Fool). Originally, the excel file was named 'LivePrice' and scraped info from a Yahoo site to do what you want.

It's a bit precarious because Yahoo have been known to change the format of their data source and the author of the add-in has said that he won't maintain it in future. However, he has shared the password to the source so there is a possibility that it can be updated.

I only use it for London shares, but a quick test shows that it works for Amazon on NYSE! Let me know if you are interested in more info.

Are you happy using google sheets instead of excel? You can use certain queries to bring in stock prices there with 15m updates. I did create my own watchlist with highs/lows and when I’d hit certain % thresholds so it’s all pretty clever.

Thanks everyone. Tried both solutions suggested and google sheets seems to be the easiest and most intuitive.

I have a sheet up and running which shows exactly what i am expecting - I'm able to show current market price, market price minus last nights close as a percentage, daily p&l , total p&l.

All very straightforward so far. Will monitor when all markets are open.

Glad to hear it, I was certainly impressed with the options when I created one a couple of years ago, also being able to create graphs over time and spark lines etc.

I think I will look at updating it over my furlough period and potentially bring that data into something easy to view like Data Studio...

Been working with it yesterday & today - got to say I'm really impressed. I've got a much better solution now than most of the portfolio management apps and websites out there..
