I’ve been asked to provide an IRC for my UK bank

Can anyone with experience confirm if I can use my bank sort code.

They are expecting nine digits, not eight.

Many thanks

Go into your account and look for Inteenational payments, should all be there.

I would imagine you need IBAN or BIC. The sort code has little meaning outside the uk.

You might want to consider a service like Transfer wise, makes it a whole lot cheaper.

As supersport says, an IBAN or BIC should do the trick.

Check that your bank (and your bank account) can receive payments in currencies other than GBP though?

A couple of years bank i spent 11 months working (remotely) for a Canadian company (contracting) - all invoicing and payments were in Canadian Dollars (CAD). For the first couple of months i had to use a transfer service (TorFX i used) as an intermediary until my bank (Cater Allen) were able to set themselves up to receive CAD payments directly.
All i need to send over to the Canadian company was bank account details which included the IBAN code.

Rather painless in the end smile

Look for the info on your bank statements. My monthly statements include as standard all the relevant details to effect a transfer into my UK bank account from an overseas bank in any currency.
