Safely ending contactless card

As one does every so often I was scissoring a retired card then wondered if I just cut it in half, would the contactless half still work. Came across this:. https://www.instructables.com/id/Disabling-Contacl...
Anyone know if correct?

Then cut it into very small pieces. My shredder takes CCs.

Yep, and then only ever put half into the same rubbish sack...

But take half of it and incinerate it...........waving a cloth around so the fumes can't get collected back together.

I always cut mine into multiple parts through the chip too. Takes less than a minute and if I am in work goes in the confidential waste if at home we have 2 bins like most people chuck half in one half in recycling one. All in all its not an effort at all.
