Porting single mortgage to joint

I'm hoping someone can help me with a question on mortgage porting.

I'm in the process of selling my house financed by a sole mortgage and will be buying a new house jointly with my partner. I've got around 2 years left on my fixed term mortgage and I'm keen to avoid the hefty early repayment charges. Is it possible to port a mortgage to a new property, moving from a sole owner to joint? The new mortgage will be for a higher amount, although affordability and LTV are well below our limits.
