With all this talk of stock markets taking off I'd thought I had better get in on it all.

I opened a Halifax share dealing account and made a few purchases. I realised a bit later that it was just a normal account - I thought it was an ISA trading account.

So, I created the ISA Share Trading account and bought some other shares.

I thought I might try and move the original shares I bought in the non-ISA account, but looking at their FAQs this is not possible.

We're all in this to hopefully make some money so with this in mind -

If I sell some of the original shares in the future I assume I will have to pay tax on them ? So would it be better to sell them now and simply buy new shares in the ISA account ? I'd have to take a hit on the £12.5 transaction fee (out and in?) but should be cheaper in the long run ?

You can make £12,300 of capital gain this year so you'd need to make a lot of gain on your shares before you broke that, I think.
