Bank with the blue coloured Egale logo boys, though I'm not quite sure how I did as I am sure when I applied for this mortgage I thought is was Woolwhich which appears on all my Brokers paperwork and my annual statements, but did notice in April when my mortgage DD wasn't called it is now Barclays.

Anyway, seems they gave me a mortgage holiday for 3 months due to CV-19. Didn't need it, tried getting through lots on the 'phone and ended up in queues for hours so gave up until in May finally got through to someone explained I hadn't asked for a holiday, paid April and May by Debit card on the 'phone. Rinse and repeat for June. Difficult both times as even when I got through Barclays had no security details for me and when they took me through the "b" set of back up questions, their records, such as the initial mortgage amount, didn't match the real initial amount I have on my physical paperwork. Combined with the other person on the mortgage have two very unusual surnames as well so it shouldn't be that hard to find our mortgage, besides, it is linked to the house, which is a real physical thing in one place!

By late June, I'd got into Barlcays complaints procedure and they gave me £50, didn't charge any overdue interest and assured me that the debit was set up again to go from July 15th and that nothing had changed on my credit record.

Come the due date for the payment in July, no DD taken. Ring a couple of days later and get through "Yes, sir, as you requested a reduced payment of 50% at £750 per month we have altered you DD to that for the second three month payment holiday". Errrrm, no I sodding haven't............then ask why they altered the DD as it was never changed anyway to be told, you asked for a new bank to be used for you payments.......! No I sodding didn't. Yet when I ask the date and time of the call when that happened, I was told it was the same date and time I called when I made payment for the previous missing payments.

I've asked the call handler - whom when she started to look at the records realised something wasn't right and did try o get me her manager but no one answered, to gain, raise further our initial complaint. I've got the money to pay my mortgage, I just want to keep paying it without spending hours on the phone to try and sort out errors.

Should I go to the Obudsman now as I've once been through the Barclays complaint. Should I inform Action fraud as well and get a police reference, why on earth is someone trying to pay my mortgage for me?

Is there a scam here I don't know? Do the bank not want our money?

I've cc'd the original broker as well and they rang me Friday and said at first impression they couldn't fathom anything out.

(I being used interchangebly for me and my partner.....).

Woolwich turned into Barclays about 20 years ago!

Obviously there'a a lot of crap to sort out here. You can dedicate your life to fighting it, but the chances are it's just corporate incompetence - like I have with Scottish Power at the moment. Trying to get the train back on the rails is pointless and just gets you cross. The main thing IMHO is to make sure you don't fall behind on payments because that's when you're vulnerable. Just keep an eye on the money and keep records/notes of everything.

Sounds like the call handler didn't come out of your account and has logged the next call they took onto the same account.

You can have the complaint re-opened and they may throw some more money at you for it, Barclays are good for that at least.

Oh, was it just a brand Barclays kept, all our paperwork from 4 1/2 years ago is Woolwich, yet strangely now I note, our annual statements are all Barclays!

OK, sound like a case of error rather than scam then?

Likely an error - the banks are processing these (and follow up holidays) in enormous numbers. Staff are under huge pressure, and will be working from home (possibly looking after children/home schooling too). It’s likely to be an admin cock-up.

Keep complaining to the Bank and it will get sorted.
