Hello All,

I'm not an eBay trader. I've been selling off a few excess things around the house and have encountered an issue. I'd appreciate your angle on this.

I sold an item on eBay for an excellent price. The buyer put an offer in which was the starting price of the auction and I accepted. The item was dispatched quickly. After being dispatched the buyer says he has found it cheaper elsewhere and wants a price match. I've requested the buyer to put a request in for a refund and to note it is due to him finding the product cheaper elsewhere. I am looking to decline the refund for a few reasons

1. If I offer a refund I suffer a £50 cost for postage
2. I made a good profit on the sale and one I am unlikely to achieve anytime soon
3. Other buyers were interested in the product and I've lost that opportunity to sell to others
4. People to do their research before they make a purchase and offer a price.
5. Concerned the buyer will note the product as being damaged or missing a part.

I've contacted ebay to talk through this. Their advice is always so flakey. I do not want the buyer to damage it and then I suffer the cost of postage on a forced Ebay refund and also I lose the product. Ebay said I could report the buyer for fraud/abuse if he tries this approach but I suspect Ebay will go in his favour anyway.

Any recommendations.

Tricky.

It's really cheeky of him, as he bid & you sold. If you are not bothered about the feedback I'd politely refuse.

Can you coax him to confirm in writing that the item was well received & as described?

Yep I've just done that on the back of your recommendation.

He is a cheeky sod. Wants me to decide by 9am tomorrow or he will send it back regardless. I will of course refuse the request and also reject the delivery and it will return to the sender if he tries it.

Ebay specifically refers to "buyer's remorse" as not being a reason to cancel an order. Trouble is buyer can make other spurious stuff up. If he does send it back (this will stick in your craw) you may be as well to receive it. If it's all still OK you will be able to sell it again, and sometimes in life it's easier to take the path of least resistance.

My bet is he won't bother to send it back.

If you want to argue with the buyer, then make sure that Ebay are aware now rather than after you have lost the return game.

Do this by going to help, close your account, contact us.

Once you have the transcript of the chat session outlining your concerns, you will be able (eventually) to overturn the return decision that will be made against you.

Buyer was pissed and paid too much, now he / she / it / uncertain / curious wants some money back.

Not your problem

Solid advice again by you both.

I've just called eBay to talk through the points above. I have asked them to log it on my file. I have told them I dont want the buyer trying to report it as damaged etc etc. They advised me they have a team who can deal with this type of reports and supposedly eBay have my back (their words).

I feel much better now.

Looking forward to rejecting it at 9am and blocking the buyer's emails. He will have to take it through the formal channels.

LOL. I've asked him about 3 times to cover myself - all great. The buyer says he is happy with the product and wants to keep it if I refund £££ to him. Also said he doesnt want the hassle of sending it back.

He is price matching it to amazon who dont have it in stock and are selling it for cheap money. waiting time is 1-2 months. Such dirty dirty tactics to get a product which is out of stock for cheap money

No idea why... he told me he is a born again christian and he doesnt want to waste time.

At this stage there were two options. One was to say 'Sorry, no. Contract is complete'. The other, if you happened to be feeling generous, was to say 'Hey, well I'm under no obligation to do this but because I'm a nice guy if you send it back I'll refund the money'.

Hope justice is done!

Thank you! Justice is done

Declined the request at 9.05am!

He called me a liar so had to make this rubbish video for him to prove I dispatched it within an hour of receiving payment.

Now the comedy will begin...

He left me a negative feedback and send several messages... Of which this was one.

Jesus loves you.

Repent and be granted everlasting life in heaven.

John 3:16

For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever BELEIVES in him shall not perish but have everlasting life.

Jesus died for your sins on the cross was buried and on the third day was raised from the dead so you can be forgiven and be granted everlasting life in heaven.
All you have to do is believe.

God bless you and your family.

Wait a few weeks for them to forget about it then get back in touch with eBay, they will remove the negative feedback, especially when it looks as weird as this is

This is getting a bit more serious. The buyer has sent me a whole bunch of more religious crap and has found out the name of my wife and named her in his email.

I'm going to have to raise a complaint and try to get eBay to ban this user.

Sounds like a right nutter. What does the rest of his feedback look like?

Well done on getting the FB removed; now you have an open goal smile

If he's stalking you/your wife using the eBay messaging system then that should be a good case for getting his account closed. If he's using normal e-mail and it gets worrying then I'd suggest talk to the police.

I did not think about reporting it to the police.

Mind you he hasnt actually done anything wrong as of yet apart of stalk my wife and mention it on an email. The police wont be able to do anything

Firstly Jesus was not the son of God.

He was begotten of God.

The word of begotten means out of God.
