I spose it depends!
You have a massive range of views on Gold/Silver. Those that believe it's one of the few types of real money and that 'fiat' currencies aren't and will go to zero in time and so this rise it expected and depending on who you talk to with this view still has a long way to go. They compare to the money supply, trillion debt levels etc to make a prediction on the eventual price. These wouldn't sell, or certainly not with a view to never buying back in.
Then you have those that hate it as it earns nothing, they think there are always better companies in which to put your money, the skill/luck is which one!
Arguably Silver/Gold is your new few percent a year interest generating savings account, however it's not linear at all and so you aren't ensured of a steady return or protected from drops (it should never go to nil though!), but over the years/decades it tracks up......
