When you want to set up a new payee with Lloyds, they call your nominated phone and you have to key in the number displayed on the internet banking screen on the PC.

My recent-ish Samsung A50 is my nominated number but Lloyds' automated lady now keeps saying that I have entered the wrong security check number.

You get three shots and then it bins the transfer.

I have used this method many times in the past and it's worked OK, but recently, no joy.

Has there been a phone update that alters the outgoing tones? The phone still allows me to make calls from keypad entered numbers.

The Lloyds system works OK from my landline.

Any ideas please chaps before I try and phone Lloyds....

Try calling a DTMF tone tester:

This one lists a UK number:

Hold the phone near your pc speaker, and https://onlinetonegenerator.com/dtmf.html ?

Tandy and Maplin used to sell little handheld devices that would do the same. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Radio-Shack-Poc...

Don't you get the option to 'say OR key in the four digit security code' with Lloyds?

It’s possible that the fault lies with your mobile provider, or the carrier they hand it off to (as it’s ok from landline )
DTMF is a minefield, in band or out of band in the signalling, some carriers don’t support both.
Then there’s PCI (to prevent ‘operators’ listening to the digits, thus being able to sniff your pin etc)
Someone, somewhere, may have altered something / upgraded a system etc.

Best report it to Lloyds if it’s an issue to you, as they may already know about it, or could report it to their providers for investigation ..

If you have wi-fi calling feature then try switching it off. Vodafone used to have a bug with wi-fi calling switched on the DTMF tones never went through and I experienced the same as you.
