SA tax returns with estate income? What's the deal?
Discussion
Just curious. I do a SA every year. I've got some income from an estate to add for 19/20. I'll get an R185.
Can I do the return online in my usual last-minute method?
I was sure I'd read something about needing some software to generate the return details, or an accountant to submit a return with estate income present? But I couldn't seem to find the clarity on the HMRC website. But it seemed like a possibility given all the VAT changes in recent years for returns.
Just realised the paper deadline looms (probably too late now given R185 isn't even in hand from the estate accountant yet!)
Any help much appreciated!

Meh, looks like after Oct 31st it's commercial software only to be able to attach SA107 form which is used to declare an R185 document's info.
Obviously in paper you just use a paperclip... but in 2020 you can't attach a file, or have the SA107 document added digitally
So I need to be telling the estate accountant they can submit my return this year gratis because they've been too slow.

I believe you can add attachments to an online return, whether or not that includes other HMRC forms is another matter entirely.Obviously in paper you just use a paperclip... but in 2020 you can't attach a file, or have the SA107 document added digitally

Yes it seems some people have sent in the paper form.
But if I could somehow attach a scan of the form, or the detail entries of the form as an attachment that might do. I've got to do a cap gains thing for a property so I'll have to do my return to the current point any how, so I'll see what options I have to get the R185 data in there when I do it.
Pretty baffling how this part isn't just an extra screen/box where you stick the R185 data (which they generated in the first place).
Thanks
