What are people's views on the direction for tech funds, namely one's that include the big tech GAFA? With the antitrust fight, a potential return to normality next year, Europe hitting Amazon and China looking to control it's big players, it's all looking a bit bleak.

I've got a fair old chunk of change invested in technology funds (mainly US big tech) that have performed very well over the last 10 years and am wondering whether now is time to reduce this, take all profits and wait for things to settle.

Interested in other people's views.

If you had the kudos to get into tech stocks 10 years ago you don't need advice from us! laugh

Ha ha, I like the idea of thinking I am a God like investor but sadly not! When I started to invest in 2008 technology was all I really understood as it's my industry so that's where my spare cash went. I have never sold anything, nor considered it, until now.

I wouldn’t particularly bet against tech continuing to provide growth.
The world is changing rapidly, and part of the reason for that is the ability for businesses to get more from their data. It’s all about data! They do that through continued and new usage of technology. Artificial intelligence, machine learning, all things driving growth and change.
I don’t see any cliff edge ahead. Sure, there will be winners and losers - the reason I invest in funds and not stocks wink My (personal) view is that I plan to keep a reasonable chunk of my funds in US-based tech.
But I’m no stock guru: YMMV, DYOR etc wink

John Authers has had a couple of thoughtful articles this week on whether we're now in a 'great rotation' out of tech and into value, eg
https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2020-11...
I suspect we are to some extent, as it started before the vaccine bombshell, and have reduced my ATT and SMT. But tech might not fall too far, apart from ZM. and other major WFM beneficiaries. Certainly there was a Stifel report 2-3 weeks ago suggesting some tech valuations were unsustainably high. The Chinese development referred to above is also interesting - I didn't realise the Chinese authorities were in the habit of issuing consultations!

PS if you subscribe to John Authers daily email then you bypass the Bloomberg non-subscriber free article limit. I'm amazed at the range of charts and data sources he can mushroom up - maybe that's what you get with a Bloomberg terminal!

Most of the research I’m reading is that we’re not rotating out.
