Bought £50 worth of curtains form them via click and collect / paypal,

got to store, they were a different colour than online.

I asked for a refund, and simply bought the correct colour in store.

Got a text while in store saying I collected it.

Staff/ manager said they would ring me tomorrow and confirm why it wasnt letting them do a refund.

No call today (Surprise surprise) so rang them and have been told the reason that they cannot do a refund is because they never got the money. I have gone onto Paypal and it is on my paypal activity and also the money left my online banking (Albeit two days later - when the order was ready for collection).
Explaining this to the manager on duty, he said I need to ring Paypal, and 'this happens a lot'

On hold to B Q main number now - anyone ever seen this? I am concerned if I put in a Paypal Dispute, the agent at BQ will see the 'Collected' thing and wont refund.

God I hate B and Q theyre just thick as mince. all of them.

Colours are never the same on a computer screen as they are in real life. Next time you want curtains you'll know this and go to see them first smile

Hope you get it fixed.

Helpful.

My horse has just bolted. Can you help me close the gate please?

But he will only lose one horse.

I can't think of a more complicated way to buy a curtain so I'm not surprised it went wrong.

BTW what is your helpful contribution, by way of contrast?

Is there any advantage in paying via Paypal?

Don't have (and never will have a PayPal account) so just wondering.

I've had this with B&Q when the online system ceased, they just said as I never collected the order they will not progress the fund request and it will just disappear off my card which it did.

I use my account quite a bit when buying stuff online purely because I can just enter my Paypal details (which I know) when I want to pay rather than having to get off my backside and find my credit card and copy all the details (which I don’t know) from it. The Paypal transaction goes back to the same card.

I just have a credit card that only gets used for online purchases.

Yes, but unless you memorise all the numbers from it you are still missing out on the cunning “not getting off your backside” part of my plan.

All my CC details are autofilled at the payment screen. You just have to remember your CVC number.

There you go OP, it's your fault for using a massive global online payment platform.

You fool!

My understanding, possibly flawed, is that if the vendor's site is hacked (not uncommon, sadly), there's less risk to your data if you paid via PP rather than having credit card details stored on their systems (though I also thought the CVS code lives outside the vendor's system so perhaps this additional distancing is illusory).

I’ve had this before , although the money has left your account , the retailer won’t actually get it for a couple of days or so , so they can’t do an immediate refund .
I would give it a few days and it should get sorted , you only get this with PayPal though .

The problem is that the massive online payment platform isn't without its issues.

If I have an issue with my credit card, bank, etc there is somebody else to turn to. With Paypal, you are just dealing with them.

Yes there is.

1. Bought a plane ticket to Italy with Ryanair in Feb for a friend's wedding in May. Flight got cancelled due to lockdown, O'Leary and his band of thieves made refund very difficult, after 30 days I served them notice I had enough and raised a Paypal Dispute - after about 3 weeks I got my money from PayPal.

2. Purchased a tyre repair kit from Carpartsforless, no sign of delivery or order being progressed, 2 weeks gone and after various phone calls and emails no response from these crooks. Raised a Paypal Dispute again and go my money back.

But is that any different from what you get with a credit card?

You're right, you get the same cover but some people like myself don't have a credit card. Not had a credit card for the last 10 years, PayPal works just fine for my needs.

I think it is 3 days after purchase that the money gets to the retailer. It takes PayPal payments ages to appear on my bank statement. They don't even go in the pending section, just straight out
